Pecan Pie

Ingredients:
¼ cup of butter
¼ teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon flour
1 cup chopped pecans (pronounced puh-CAHNS)
1 tablespoon corn starch
2 eggs well beaten
½ cup Steens cane syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup sugar (you can use white or brown, but white seems to work better)
1 unbaked 9 in. pie shell

Directions:
1.    Preheat oven to 450 degrees.  
2.    Melt butter in a saucepan over low to medium low heat. 
3.    Add flour, cornstarch and salt and stir until smooth. 
4.    Add Steen’s syrup and sugar to the butter/flour mixture and mix well. 
5.    Increase heat to medium high. Boil mixture for three minutes. 
6.    Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool. 
7.    Add eggs, pecans, and vanilla to the mixture and stir until pecans are completely coated. 
8.    Pour the mixture into the unbaked pie shell. 
9.    Bake the pie for 10 minutes at 450 degrees, 
10.    then reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees. Bake 30-35 minutes until pie is set.  
11.    This pie is good served warm or cool.  I prefer it warm
